It’s been a while

Hi!

Its been a while…

Its been a while since I done a blog and a lot has been happening in this mami’s life, so thought what better then to share it here. Its also by the time of this blog actually being published two years since hubby was diagnosed with bowel cancer.. that is however another blog entirely.

So we are currently at the end of the summer holidays and again by the time you read this blog the children will be more then likely back at school!! But oh my what a summer its been!! It’s definitely been a good one though even with the weather being totally pants! Ok its not been to bad but its not been the best either.

The summer started with us packing and going on holiday, for the first time ever I left my packing until the day we went !!! Why you ask ???? I have no idea. Maybe it was because we was hiring a camper and my thinking was that it would go from cupboard to cupboard…oh how wrong was i! I never really thought it through.. I mean we went for 8 days and there are 6 of us.. and it was not just clothes I had to pack.. I had to sort and pack the food.. cutlery.. towels.. games to occupy the children, bedding… everything basically apart from the kitchen sink.

We did have a fab week away though even if it probably rained at least 60% of the time if not more. The few days of sun that we did have made up for it though! Sitting in my aunts garden, going for walks around the camp site with the youngest and even watching him play in the park and talking to other children..these memories that will stay forever.

The holiday despite the weather was fab.. it was so nice to be able to get away from life and totally switch off and forget about home. I had every intention while away to work on my blogs and reviews. I took my laptop with other work bits and apart from move my brief case from one part of the camper to the other.. the contents never got touched once. If only my brain got the memo!! It was nice to spend some proper time as a family.. Especially the teenagers that are to cool to be with parents.

For the first part of the holiday we did work.. Yes I’m fully aware I just said I never touched my laptop all holiday which Is true. So when I say I worked for the first part of the holiday I’m referring to my other work that I do with hubby, even managed to get the children to help out.. which was bloody amazing. The youngest had such a fab time.. he was like a different child all weekend.. his confidence appeared and grew minute by minute, my baby is growing up.

So when I say we worked for the first part of the holiday it was actually only from the Friday afternoon until the Saturday.. Sunday morning. It was not all work though.. anything but. We had hired a camper and was working at an event that was actually taking place in a rather large field. The first night we had the field all to ourselves and it was flipping lush. It was so hot that day.. so was nice to just sit outside on the evening and actually just chill after a long and hot drive and watch the children run around like children and making memories. Riding bikes, playing hide and seek, talking to you tubers, attempting to cool off from soaking themselves with the water taps and listening to the eldest play his guitar. My children spent the week being children and it was out of this world to watch and cherish as a mum. That night we stayed up until nearly 1am.. if it was not for hubby being boring- sorry responsible saying come on bed… we probs would have stayed up longer. It was by far the best evening in a long time and I did not want it to end.

The rest of the weekend was more or less the same.. Spending precious moments with the children, watching the youngest shadow his dad and talk to a you tuber or two and more listening to my big boy and his guitar..on an evening they would help us set up and take down the stand while looking out for their baby brother and watching the live band set up and sound check while we worked. I truly loved every moment of it all.

The rest of the week was chilled and relaxed despite the rain.. we caught up with family that I had not seen in 18 years and my children had never met. We stayed in some interesting camp sites.. drove many miles, sat and watched time go by and i probably consumed way to much wine and sugar. But who cares.. the children got on with each other and we spent some quality family time together making memories to look back on forever.

We got back from one holiday to go on another one.. well sort of. We came home one day to go away the following day for the weekend. No camper in sight thankfully.. This time we was staying in a lovely hotel courtesy of family and visiting the brother in law and partner. It was a lush weekend, the weather was beautiful.. we had amazing food, done lots of exploring and not forgetting being treated to the most amazing firework event as a treat for hubbys 40th birthday from his brother.

When we finally got home after the second break it was all go!!! It was time to finish packing and move house.. we had been waiting so long to do this so when I say everyone was just a little excited that may be an understatement. I mean the fact that there was no tv for a few days never bothered anyone in the slightest.

On the day of the move it absolutely poured it down.. thankfully we had a few helpers and plodded on with ending the day eating chippy in the garden. It felt unreal that we had finally moved after so long.. moving is a stress I don’t really want to do again.

So obviously moving house causes boxes and we was surrounded by them..i mean we had 8 years worth of stuff to sort through and move but hey ho! I had more important things to worry about. Like finding my baby boys presents and banners as the day after moving he turned 10 yr.

I assumed after moving that things would settle down and we would be able to enjoy the rest of summer and the new house.. but oh my how wrong was i?? We had boxes all around us, which resulted in a much needed trip to Ikea as we had minimal furniture for the new house due to everything being fitted in the old one.. this trip ended with us on the side of a motorway thanks to a blown tyre.

So as if going on holiday, a birthday and moving was not enough we had A level results day and then GCSE results as well.. then as if that was not enough we had to do the back to school shop.. teenagers and school shopping is anything but easy I can assure you. There are way to many styles to choose from these days when it comes to uniform. Oh and if that was not enough, hubby went back to his office in England for the first time since he became ill.

I had every intention of continuing to blog over the summer but life got in the way…and once upon a time this would have bothered me massively. However over the past few years with hubby being diagnosed with cancer and then going into remission, I’ve become more appreciative of my life and my family. I never blogged over the summer but its not the end of the world.. its life. I’m a mum to four children.. 3 being teenagers and if by me not blogging over the summer meant that I’ve had time with my children making memories then that is how it is. Life is to short to sit and dwell and stew on things that you have achieved.. live your life as you have no idea what is around the corner.
