I love the school holidays, yes you read that right…. I love being able to turn the alarm of at the beginning and being able to wake up when I wake up…. Or more then likely when Rylee wakes me up. He is still at the age that the later you put him to bed it makes difference to the time he wakes up unless it’s a school day then I have the joy of waking him up.
This holiday I was adamant that i was going to sort the house, chill and make the most of being a family as after the holidays things where to become crazy as roger was going back into hospital for his reversal. So after Easter my life was about to become major crazy again, I’m trying to stay positive that the procedure will be straight forward but every so often I have a negative moment, I mean I am only human after all.
Over the holidays we had the normal dentist, hospital and hair appointments to attend… oh the bloody joys!!! I’m sure many mums will agree with me on the fact that I could think of so many better things to do then hang around in waiting rooms for what seems like ages for a two minute bloody appointment. I would usually say something similar about taking the kids to the hair dresser but I’m lucky she comes to me at the moment and it’s bloody fab!!
So apart from the regular appointments, one of the intensions this holiday was to start de cluttering the house. ?? Well that went right out the bloody window, I accomplished nothing really!!! Apart from emptying Rylees clothes drawer and make a mess in the boys room that I have still not managed to fully sort out. Seriously must remember to tell myself not to plan, there is no point as something usually prevents the plan from happening. I feel sad admitting it but I had been looking forward to sorting the garden out and all I managed was emptying a few pots into a large flower pot or dump if you was currently to see it!. Thanks to the joyful weather I never even accomplished making the garden pretty?
On a positive note and I suppose something I did accomplish was going to see a Physio….For some time I have been suffering with extreme pain in my shoulder, arm and leg. The pain has restricted me in some ways from doing things like driving, sleeping and enjoying a day out with the family ?. So after finally giving up and admitting I need to see someone I was referred to a Physio and my first appointment was during Easter. It would seem the excruciating pain I have been in for sometime is being caused by tennis elbow, shoulder impingement and deterioration/weakness of the muscle in my leg!!!! So just a few things, the Physio is helping but it bloody hurts when driving ? which is not going to help me over the next few weeks.
The intention of the holidays was to spend time with the family, chill and to de clutter the house, I never managed to de clutter the house but I have managed to chill in respect to staying in bed after 6.30am and we have had some quality family time. ? The holidays have not all been doom and gloom with the weather, we have had a few nice days and have managed to get out as a family. We have not done loads and it may have only been a few hours at a time but what is important is that I’ve managed to get the two eldest out their room and we have spent time together as a family and it’s been flipping lush. Sometimes I forget I have the two eldest as they always in their room, which yes my be my fault but they are teenagers and do their own things.
So to sum up, the Easter holidays have been and gone, I did not achieve what I had set out to do but Hey ho scooby doo who cares. Once upon a time I would have cared but what is not done today will still be there the next day and the next. The last few months has taught me to look at things in a different way, life is for living and spending time with your family, chasing dreams and being happy. Following your dreams and being with your family is far more important then having a spotless child’s room that you spent all day sorting and they spend 2 minutes messing up. Your children will always be your children but they will not always be in your home and under your feet, they will appreciate that you took the time to goo to their football match or sit and read, more then having a tidy house all the time. So I suppose when I look back and reflect easter was not to bad at all, I mean it started off with hubby getting the all clear.!!!!!
