Skin care… who honestly takes time for them and has time for their skin? … especially as a mum?
I am mum to four children! a daughter and 3 boys, 3 are teenagers and one who thinks he is a teenager but actually only 10yrs. The boys are all in school, which means I have the dreaded school run to do twice a day. Oh, and it’s not just to one school either as the youngest is in primary, both in opposite direction to each other but thankfully with different starting and finishing times.
With having two teenagers and a 10 year old to get up and out the house you would think my mornings would be simple and I would have plenty of spare time. Getting out the house should be easy… no moaning, shouting or nagging! If only it was like this… school mornings would be a dream.
Even with the ages my children are I still have fun with what would be considered nagging by the kids to get them all up and ready for school. I still have to make sure they are all awake, two of them more so than one as they like their bed a bit too especially when its school. I have to ensure they have uniform, well one of them anyway as he seemed to have picked up someone else’s in PE a few weeks ago making him short of shirts. I still do lunch boxes, thoughts being that if I do them, we get out the house quicker! Never happens though just takes more of my time up.
Being a mum to four life is pretty full on… playing taxi driver, cook, clothes washer, problem solver and maid being just a few. Time for me… whatever that maybe is not always easy and I’m sure I’m not the only mum who will admit to this.
When I became a mum nearly 19 yrs ago… skincare was the last thing on my mind. I was a new mum and the last thing on my mind was applying cream to my face. I had this new life fully dependent on me… I needed to make the bottles up for the next feeds, I had the washing that was mostly covered in milk stains and actually make sure I fed and watered myself. Who ever said sleep when your baby sleeps obviously never had children… either that or they were male.
Being a mum is crazy and busy… and I love every minute of it. I may moan sometimes… who don’t? I am not perfect… who is? No matter how crazy it gets though or how challenging I would change nothing about it. Even the part that I no longer get to drink a cuppa in peace or even a hot one.
Growing up I never really took much of an interest in skincare or even makeup. I remember watching my mum spend hours… applying creams and then make-up and then by evening she would sit there taking the makeup off and applying more creams. I never really understood it as I could never see any difference in what the creams where doing, sorry mum if your reading this.
When I became a mum, I still never really took time out for me or understood the whole skincare thing. I was a new mum with a baby, and I had more important things to do with my time then apply potions and spend my money on lotions for me when I had a baby that needed all the potions going.
Then about 8 years ago I became a consultant for a company that sold skincare and I started playing around with their creams and potions. I started researching and following other mummies and realised just how important these potions actually was. I suppose I was starting to get older as well which contributed… I did not fancy the idea of ageing and actually realised that all those potions I used to watch my mum apply actually worked.
Over the years I have tried several potions since learning just how important it is to actually take care of you and your skin. There are so many to choose from and range in price which can play a huge impact for a mum. Price usually wins the item for me… I follow many influencers, but their items are just not in my price range even though the end results are amazing. Before I received my creams, we spoke, and Nina asked about my skin to ensure that I tried the cream suitable for me. I had never been asked these questions before, I never really thought about them. I just used what I could afford at the time. When my creams arrived, Nina had included instructions how to use them and what to try and first. I was excited to give them ago and share how I got on with them.
I had two different skin care sets to try and I was amazed by them both. I have always struggled with dark and puffy eyes, more so since being a mum. During the time I was trying the different skin care sleep was not on the menu, so this mum looked like a panda. I remember trying the eye creams and was in total shock after just a day or so. I no longer looked like a panda… just a tired a mum. The puffiness and shadows looked less obvious… which I never believed possible.
I love these creams… and it’s not just because how effective the creams are its also for how long they last making them cost worthy for us mums that cannot afford to get new creams every month. I tried samples and I was surprised how long they lasted due to only needing such a small amount. These creams may not be the cheapest on the high street, but they are worth every penny, not just because of how effective they are but how long they last. They are value for the cost.
