Is it really that time of year already?? ??
I’m not a huge fan of #halloween , maybe it’s because I never really did anything for it when I was younger. I used to take the eldest 3 trick or treating when really young as we lived in Germany. Hubby was in the army, all the houses joined in and some parents dressed up. The kids and the adults used to have so much fun….it was always cold as well unlike these days ? wrapping up cosy and spending some quality time with the kids and making memories.
When we moved I stopped taking the kids trick or treating, I can’t really explain why, I suppose my nerves got the better of me being in a new area. I always believed I got away with it as the kids never said anything apart from thank you for the sweets I’d brought them. One night I came home from work and the little monkeys with their dad had decorated the front porch and answered the door to trick or treaters. There enjoyment on their faces? told me a million words.
The elder 3 children reached an age that I believe to old to go trick or treating and not living near the kids school and down a street with no other kids my youngest never experienced the fun. We used to take them to Halloween parties but they are not the same. The past few years the youngest started asking to go and I said no then something happened!!!! His dad got diagnosed with cancer!! ?? so when Rylee asked to go last year of course I was going to let him go… they had seen and experienced so much leading up to Halloween they deserved some fun!! I brought a costume for the youngest and my middle son came with us. It turned out to be a great evening ? My middle son also decorated the house with decorations he had made himself, which have expanded this year but I could not give a monkeys. My look on life this past year is completely different.. no I don’t like Halloween but my kids mean the world to me and have had a tough year so if decorating the house is what they want to do along with watching scary films then thats what we will do, if the youngest wants to go trick or treating or go to a friend Halloween party then he shall do!! Life is to short… life is to be lived and to make memories to store in your heart until it’s bursts, life is to spend time with loved ones… work can wait…. you won’t ever get that minute back!!! Life will chuck challenges but stay focused and take it on the chin!!!
