I’m me, just a wife and a mum.. and this is my blog!

Firstly a massive hello to all my new likers and a massive thank you to all the oldies that have followed me from the start, thank you for all the likes, comments, sharing of posts and page and of course your continued support during the past 11 months. Words will never be enough to show you how much it’s all appreciated.

This blog started with little old me sharing the challenges faced while trying to bring up 4 kids and looking for a job while hubby the majority of the time worked away. Within 6 weeks of starting the blog my world was turned up side down as my husband was diagnosed with bowel cancer.!!! So after many emotional conversations with hubby I decided I would share the families journey as well as the challenges I faced of being a mum.

I decided to include cancer in my blogs to help others and hopefully myself, as much as people try to help and support you there is nothing better then talking to someone who fully understands what your going through. Many people still believe that cancer should be something that stays private and should not be spoken about outside the family its like they are ashamed of the individual. So some of my blogs and even the magazine article I did, has upset a few individuals. I feel very strongly about sharing my cancer journey, as one thing we realised at the beginning there is very little out there and we had absolutely no idea what type of journey we as a family were about to endure.

So after what felt like years of chemo, operations and appointments hubby got the all clear just before Easter this year. We as a family were obviously over whelmed by this news and of course had a little celebration of our own which included lots of dancing, alcohol and giggles. Hubby has since gone on to have his ileostomy reversal and is recovering slowly but doing amazingly considering what he has been through, apart from the bit of chemo brain he denies he has. Many people believe that as hubby has had his reversal and has been given the all clear that he no longer has to go to the hospital and life can move on!!!! I wish this was how it worked…. There are going to be many more appointments several blood tests, bowel prep for scans and cameras going places!!! So for those of you that follow me for my journey of cancer, don’t worry there will be many more blogs to come so don’t leave me just yet.

While supporting hubby beat bowel cancer I was not looking for a job for obvious reasons, however unexpectedly I now run my own business that helps others build their online brands and I am concentrating on growing my blog while raising awareness for cancer. Deep down if a job was to become available within the cancer supporting organisations and it was of my abilities then I would jump at it, I would be able to finally put my degree to use.

Us females tend to get on with things and I am the world worst for going to the doctor. While caring for hubby I had been suffering with a bad shoulder, leg and tennis elbow, which seems to be under control touch wood. This week I went to see someone who is sending me for an MRI and to someone else to look at my leg, I will obviously be including this in my blogs. I look at my blogs and believe that if I can help one individual in any way by sharing the challenges I face then I’ve achieved what I set out to do.

Along side blogging, going to appointments, raising awareness for cancer, training for the race for life and walk together oh and running my own business I am a wife and a mum. I have 4 children 17,15,13 and 8 and they are all individuals that face their own challenges in life and have been through a journey this past year that I would not wish my worst enemy to travel let alone any child. In their own individual ways my babies still need me to be by their sides like I wish to a degree will always be the way, ok I can dream. Yes my kids are old enough to more or less look after themselves and their baby brother depending the mood of two of the boys, but they still need guidance, discipline, reminded to do their chores and that listening ear when something is bothering them or even the shoulder to cry on. No matter the age of my children they will always be my babies and I will always be there for them.

So lovelies to round up, don’t worry my blog is going nowhere and will continue to include cancer. I am more determined then ever to raise awareness of bowel cancer along with other cancers!!! You are never to young and if more knowledge was shared then the survival rate will go up, if people don’t like what I do then that’s their tough luck…. I’m not perfect and i will have my down days and I will share them but please don’t judge. Me sharing my down days and showing this is ok, and may well have the potential to help that one mum or dad out there that feels like they are failing or that carer that is supporting a loved one through cancer. Mental health and awareness is so vital!!!!! Don’t be ashamed to talk about it……
