Christmas

What can I say apart from… we as a family have had a fab Christmas holiday so far. J

For once I was pretty organised and had done the majority of the wrapping 🙂 while I finished the last few bits hubby prepped the veg etc for Christmas day and cooked the turkey. I think I can honestly say the kids where getting on with each other and was looking forward to going to see family friends later that evening. However shame they never listened to what time was said for when to be ready for, something’s will never change!!. Despite the children being children and delivering a Christmas gift to the neighbour we somehow managed to leave on time, a Christmas miracle. I think it was safe to say we all had a great few hours, I mean who wouldn’t after having a few glasses of wine, several plates of nibbles on behalf of the kids, a very loud and noisy dog, loads of festive cheer and not forgetting the two youngest playing with the dog and his ball on the kitchen floor. Think the best part was when Kai came running back in to the kitchen after the dog as the dog had pinched his sock lol, that will serve him right for messing around near the dog’s water bowl.

At the beginning of Christmas, with hubby going through chemo we knew that some things where going to have to be put on hold or missed this year. 🙁 The kids I might add never complained once, nothing has spoilt their excitement for Christmas. So with this in mind I thought I would have some fun and try and compensate in a way and do a Christmas eve box for the family. I thought it would be fun and maybe another tradition that we could do as a family every year. The box would contain festive pj’s for us all with chocolate, hot chocolate for the older kids and milk shake straws for Rylee and not forgetting a small bottle of prosecco and red wine for me and hubby. So this box had been planned for weeks and hours for when we was going to hand it out, so why on earth was it not that straight forward?????? Especially as I had already said to the kids to not get ready for bed when we got in, as I wanted to talk to them. Obviously hubby had not heard me and had forgot what we had said before leaving the house, men!!!!!!!! Bless him though he so made up for it, he had only gone and brought me a pair of festive pj’s and wrapped them and then snuck them in the box 🙂 I was completely oblivious to what he had done. So when opening the box and seeing the wrapping paper with no name I was totally confused, I was so over whelmed when hubby said they was mine. The excitement on the kids faces was great,  So on opening their gifts and seeing that they where pj’s and Christmas ones, then when Cameron and hubby found out they had the same ones and then so did Kai and Rylee, well I could not have got a better response. The kids carried on to surprise me and stayed downstairs for the evening J tracking santa, having plenty of giggles and stuffing sweats . When it came to bed time my youngest decided he was to excited, along with being hot and could not get to sleep, think he came down stairs at least 3 times. Think it took about an hour for him to settle, which I suppose is not to bad really.

I think this Christmas was the best I can remember in so long, the day started by 7am and like every year Rylee wakes everyone up, by far Keeley gets the worst wake up call ever. Pillows and blankets get pulled from the bed and sometimes so does she. Hubby checks to see if Santa has been and the older kids go along with it all for Rylee, every year hubby says he has not come and the kids think its great as he always has a grin on his face. After what seems like ages all gifts are opened and everyone is chuffed to bits with what they have had. :-0 The day continued to get better as I had all my children down stairs most of the day, watching rubbish TV and even all my boys played together. Cameron had so much time for his baby brother this year and I could not be more happy and proud. He chose to spend his Christmas with his family and not stuck to his Xbox talking to his mates. I was even surprised when I asked the children to help clean up after dinner and not one person moaned at me, they just got on with it.

I was not looking forward to Christmas with hubby being ill and chemo starting again next week, but WOW… it was fantastic. Hubby was relaxed and was well enough to enjoy himself and join in. The kids got on with each other, we only had a few moments where two children decided to throw a tantrum and answer back. We have had so many laughs, eaten way to much, spent so much time together as a family and have enjoyed every moment  As a family we have a black cloud over us but for Christmas we booted it and it has been fantastic. Family time means so much, as your kids are not little for ever, this Christmas could well be the last one for my baby believing  xx
